| Further Information: A population of this scale insect was found growing at the roots and lower stems of Phagnalon rupestre, located on remote maritime cliffs at Xlendi, Gozo, Malta. The insect is distributed in the South East Europe and most of the Mediterranean where it occurs in Czech Republic, Iraq, Ukraine, Turkey, Spain, Israel, Italy, Iran, Hungary, Germany, France, Canary islands, Romania. As the epithet name suggest, this insect hosts plants of another genus of the Asteraceae family, that is Artemisia. Species of this genus are rare in Malta namely Arthemisa arborescens, but Phagnalon rupestre and Phagnalon graecum subsp. ginzbergeri are frequent.
